TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) — The attorney for Tony Alamo says the convicted evangelist has had a heart attack and been hospitalized.

The Texarkana Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/sTBZsa) that John Wesley Hall said during a court hearing in Arkansas that Alamo also has double pneumonia and a liver ailment.

The 77-year-old Alamo is serving a 175-year-prison sentence in Indiana after being convicted of taking young girls across state lines for sex.

Hall did not immediately return a message left Saturday by The Associated Press, and a phone call to the prison rang unanswered.

The hearing was related to a civil lawsuit by six women who say Alamo took them as child "brides" and a seventh woman who says she was being groomed as his bride before she escaped his ministry in Fouke.
